Originally from Indianapolis, IN, Joe Young currently resides in New York City. A prolific composer, he writes and performs original music inspired by both classical and contemporary artists. His music has been performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. As a performer, he has played at various festivals across the globe, different theater companies and Off-Broadway shows, and for various high-profile events and dignitaries.
Additionally, Joe is a traveling musician and member of the United States Army Band. Guitar and trumpet are his native and primary instruments, with additional interest in mandolin and banjo.
Joe received his Bachelor’s in Music at Ball State University and his Master in Arts of Music Composition at Hunter College.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Joe has been privileged to play with musicians, bands, and productions such as A Band Called Honalee, Sutton Foster, Ben Clark & the Long Shadows, Ryan Brewer, Sarah McGowan, Pool Cosby, The Circus in Winter, Dee Roscioli, 38th Infantry Division Band, 1st Cavalry Division Band, 319th Army Band, Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Hendricks Symphony Orchestra, Ball State Symphony Orchestra, and the Indianapolis 500 pre-ceremonies 2009 & 2010.
In 2015 & 2016, Joe was a composer fellow at the Zodiac Music Academy & Festival in Valdeblore, France, where he wrote and performed with musicians from around the world. In 2008, he studied trumpet, opera, and conducting in Salzburg, Austria.
